The Promises and the Pitfalls
Lovely was initially "stoked" because the assignment covered all expenses, including flight, transportation, and housing, plus a $40 daily food stipend. However, the reality quickly shifted:
No Training: The company operates on an "honor system"—they do not teach you the charting system (Epic) you’re there to support. Lovely had to troubleshoot a "bare bones" version of Epic while juggling questions from MDs down to CNAs.
The Disappearing Team: The biggest struggle was the political environment. Lovely witnessed multiple colleagues completely disappear after clocking in, leaving her and one other nurse to work the entire 84-hour shift. She realized speaking up can be difficult due to the close relationships between team leads and team members.
The Cost of Taxes: Ultimately, Lovely left the assignment early, citing the overwhelming workload and the "crazy New York taxes". She realized the high tax burden would negate the benefits of staying for the full contract.
